Shifting toward 2012 -
Many visionaries and prophets expect there to be a huge and sudden shift
in the world's story sometime soon. Whether it happens on December 21,
2012 or a later date, a sizable proportion of them even predict that it will
be "in the twinkling of an eye" -- a sudden cascade of events that
completely changes everything everywhere.
Some paint the scenario in broad, catastrophic strokes, expecting
something -- they're not sure what -- that will have the impact of a large
meteor strike or nuclear war or pandemic disease. Others harbor a more
benign but equally fuzzy expectation, speculating that maybe some
higher psychic powers will kick in to the multitudes all at once, or that
benevolent extraterrestrials will arrive to solve our energy crisis.
What very few of the prophets do, however, is make a precise prediction
about exactly will happen. Their visions contain no assurances, no
specifics. And in my view, that's worse than useless. It fills us with a
vague buzz of fear or amorphous sense of hope, but offers no concrete
directions about what to do to prevent the dreaded thing or help create
the hoped-for thing.
And the fact is, as I see it, they can't possibly know what the Big Shift is -
- if, that is, a Big Shift is really looming. The very nature of any Big Shift
will be so unexpected, so beyond our imaginations, and so utterly alien to
what we understand, that we can't possibly delineate its contours in
advance.
I'm reminded of Jung's formula, which is that we don't so much solve our
problems as we outgrow them. We add capacities and experiences that
eventually make us bigger than the problems.
This theory can be applied in reverse: If we have not yet grown wiser than
our current predicament, then we can't see what the evolved state is
beyond the predicament. Our minds are as-yet incapable of embodying
the vision that will catapult us beyond the problem we're stuck in.
When the Big Shift comes, whether or not it comes in the twinkling of an
eye, it will be something that no one foresaw, let alone described in detail.
It will be beyond our comprehension, unlike anything we could have
visualized headed our way. (Thirty years ago, did anyone imagine the
Internet or the impact it's having?)
And if that's true, then the inescapable conclusion is: There's no use
trying to plan ahead for it. It's counterproductive to hold a particular
scenario in our mind as the likely development. And it's downright crazy
to harbor a chronic sense of dread about an unknowable, unimaginable
series of events.
The best way to prepare for a Big Shift is to cultivate mental and
emotional states that ripen us to be ready for anything:
* a commitment to not getting lost inside our own heads;
* a strategy to avoid being enthralled with the hypnotic lure of painful
emotions, past events, and worries about the future;
* a trust in empirical evidence over our time-worn beliefs and old habits;
* a talent for turning up our curiosity full blast and tuning in to the raw
truth of every moment with our beginner's mind fully engaged;
* and an eagerness to dwell gracefully in the midst of all the interesting
questions that tease and teach us.
Everything I just described also happens to be an excellent way to prime
yourself for a chronic, low-grade, always-on, simmering-at-low-heat brand
of ecstasy -- a state of being more-or-less permanently in the Tao, in the
groove, in the zone.

concepts -
It's often said that the truth is impossible to express in words. This seems strange for a language that is so varied and eloquent and so many books and discourses have been produced about it. The simple reason for this is that the truth of who/what you are is that principle before the advent of language and mind. Language formed later, you were already the fact. Look at a young child and it is seen that it is aware of you long before it has developed concepts and language.
Language was invented to communicate and express the reality that the person found themselves in. And so language is all about the duality of the world seen to be around us. This means that there are no words to express the non-duality of who you actually are prior to language, they are all geared to duality and concepts.
By concepts I mean the word tree isn't an actual tree, it's only a concept, a mental picture we learn to represent a tree so we all know what it is thats being referred to. We may not be referring to one specific tree, its a general concept.
Non-dualists use the term pointers to the truth and not claim they are stating the truth. And non-dual is used instead of one'ness because one is part of language and is a concept and immediately brings with it two and we're right back into duality once more the concept of numbers. Non-duality is not learned as the opposite to duality even though it is.
You are Awareness and that's not a concept.

on LOVE --
There is only one thing that truly matters are you expressing love right now? Love legitimizes all. When you love, you are declaring your true nature.
The fabric of your very existence, the substance of your soul, the stuff of atoms and of the entire cosmos is love. Yes, love helps you on your human journey. Yes, love brings harmony to your relationships. But most importantly, it is when you are loving that you most beautifully express your God essence. When you love, you live as God you live God into our world.
You dont need to nor can you ever get love. You only need to express it. And it is not love when you give in order that you receive something you desire in return or to accumulate good karma. The reason you need to express love is that when you love, the finer energy vibration that is released is the expression of your true self. By extending love, you come to know your true self beyond the limitation of form and more encompassing than anything you can think or imagine you are.
Love moves us. Only steps taken in love move us forward. All else is but a stationary dance. We get many opportunities, perhaps even many lifetimes to learn to love unconditionally to express the Self that we are. We are here to learn how to love every experience, every thing, every person and every moment fully.
We cannot truly love without experiencing our Oneness. And to help us learn how to truly love, we can start by being intimate with All That Is, meaning acting on our Oneness with whatever is present living that unity by loving whatever is, and opening our heart to its gifts.
Our Oneness is our reality. But we need to act on this reality in order to experience it. This is how we break through the illusion of separation.
Let our prayer be for Immediate Intimacy. May we be able to feel our Oneness and the reality of our love essence in every moment, with every person, every thing, every experience.
Immediate Intimacy involves embracing every person, situation, experience without the weight of our conditioned past, our personal baggage. It means setting judgments aside and relating to others without fear, without the need to be stronger or better than others or to control the encounter. It means meeting another and whatever the present moment brings without needs or limitations of any kind.
Let us be open, vulnerable, and unconditionally accepting of every part of the One Self. Let us greet everyone and everything with a willingness to love in whatever way feels highest. That is how we express our God Self on earth. It is our reason for human existence.
If we cannot greet another with authentic openness, we limit the love that can be expressed. If we cannot be intimate with the many forms of our One Self, we cannot know our many faces. Let us be open to loving the stranger with the same would have when meeting our long-lost brother, for he is our long-lost brother. Lost because we thought he was a stranger, found because we now remember our connectedness.

the TREE of LIFE - merry christmas to all ...
Hanging on the wall of the dojo (meeting-room) at Gurukula is a hand-embroided wall-hanging of the 'Tree of Life,' given to us by our daughter. It clearly depicts in stylized form, the whole tree -- leaves, branches, trunk and even the exposed roots. What is the meaning of this symbolic tree? What deeper understanding does it offer us?
The leaves are the symbol of our individual identities. There are so many leaves and so many individuals on the tree of life. If each leaf is living for itself, then it is living in individual love.
When the leaf realizes it is connected to a branch, it moves into the collective identity and lives for its collective identity. This identity unites us with some and separates us from others, just as one branch is separated from another. In this level, our love becomes collective love. We live for our collective identity and may even be willing to die for our collective identity.
The trunk is the symbol of our universal mind. All branches and leaves are attached to the trunk, but at the same time it transcends them. Here our love becomes universal love.
At the level of the roots -- the unitive mind or consciousness or God -- our love becomes divine love or unitive love.
Each of us is a leaf for we are a unique physical being. Each of us is a branch in as much as we belong to a particular nation, culture or tradition. And each of us is the roots in as much as we are one with the divine or absolute ... whether we realize it fully or not.
To accept intellectually the truth that we are, right now, each grounded inseparably in and as the divine is one thing, but to actually see It, even briefly, is another thing, and to experience this unitive vision continuously is quite another altogether and joy unspeakable. There have always been a few of these visionaries in every age whose lives seem to correspond with the whole tree of life ... including the trunk.
There is only one trunk and one universal mind. The trunk or the universal mind is the mediator between the roots, which represent the unitive mind, and the branches and leaves.
The trunk receives from the roots and nourishes the branches and the leaves. It speaks to the roots in the name of the leaves and the branches and it speaks to the branches and the leaves in the name of the roots.
The trunk lives for all. The Buddha, Jesus, Shankara and Ramana Mahashi etc. could be described as 'universal persons', who lived for all humankind. These are the way-showers, the truth-revealers or the mediators, as it were, between the the roots and the leaves / branches of their time.No one is outside this tree and no ideology, religion or belief-system is outside this tree that is 'life' Itself. There's only one way, one truth and one life. This is the way of the tree, the way of unity and non-duality. This way embraces different levels of truth, the un-manifested truth and manifested truth.
The great transition or shift isn't about an individual entering into a branch (belief-system) or moving from one branch (belief-system) to another branch (belief-system). It's an invitation to make the leap in consciousness from the branches to the trunk and from there to the roots. Now that's radical!

christmas 2009
It's the holiday season again with its special Christmas lights. For each of us, however, our entire life-experience has had but one purpose behind it -- discovering the Light of the Eternal.
This season marks the timeless moment when immaculate awareness comes to free us from the mistaken worship of the graven images of limited light in order to recognize, what the Bible calls, "the Father of lights (the Light of Conscousness), with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
God's light is enfolded within the awareness that sees Christmas lights twinkling, that watches the evening sky with starlight gleaming. In the same way that the "words" are "information," just so is light unfolding the wisdom and knowledge of God within us.
Who is "us"? The Self-Awareness of the Infinite Eternal.
Life runs in Light because Life is that light. The searching soul that struggles to see, skirts the edges of shadows, plumbs the darkened valleys of hidden hills and measures the forms of opaqueness.
But for each of us, in each one's time, the experience examined, the shadows searched, leads us to the Light, the Light to the Godhead. The shadows are gone, having let us see so we know we see the immeasurable allness of Light.

A new light shines --
December is a very busy month for planets. The main joyous event is the end of debilitation of Jupiter in Capricorn on 19 December when Jupiter moves into Aquarius. Good news for Sagittarius and Pisces. The day Jupiter moves into a new sign is usually celebrated as all the millions of Vedic Deities come down to earth to purify the waters of one of the 12 twelve sacred rivers of India. This is connected to the myth of Pushkara who had the ability to purify the waters. Brihaspati ( Jupiter) wanted him to stay down on earth so that the purity of Water should remain always. But Pushkara refused as he had a boon to live with Brahma. Brahma decided to come down on earth to be with Pushkara and this happens whenever Jupiter changes signs making that period a very special day. The transit of Jupiter in Aquarius is one long festival as Kumbha Mela is celebrated at the banks of four Major rivers in India. This year the center of the Kumbha celebrations will be the holy city of Haridwar and the banks of the sacred Ganges.

HOW TO BECOME HAPPY--
Associate with good people.
Do not ask God and Guru for what you want; ask God and Guru how you can best serve. Better, don't ask, just start serving!
Exercise patience in life. Problems are like dark clouds - will not the clouds disperse and the Sun return again? Have faith in God.Realize that you are not this physical body. Nor are you your thoughts, emotions, or experiences! Your very nature is God. Let go of your attachments, ignorance, delusions, and desires. Work hard and always do your best. Abandon, greed, lust, delusion, anger and pride. Cultivate peace, love, never hurt others, and discriminate as to what is right and what is wrong.
Don't follow the way of the world. Surrender all your body, mind, emotions and intellect to God.Never worry about anything.
Let all things, "good" and "bad" be considered a gift from God.

Satcharita scripture -
"Wherever you are, and whatever you may be doing, always bear it in mind that I shall continue to be informed of the minutest details of your deeds. In this manner, as I am described, I dwell in the minds of all. I am in the hearts of all, pervading. I am the Lord of all. I fill the entire creation, within and without, to the point of overflowing. This universe is directed by God and I am the one who holds the reins. I am the Mother of all beings. I am the equilibrium of the three gunas (creation, maintenance, and destruction). I promote the activities of the senses. I am the Creator, the Preserver, and the Destroyer. One who concentrates on ME, for him nothing is difficult. But the moment he forgets ME, Maya (illusion) will attack him."

In his best-selling book, The Power of Now Eckhart Tolle writes: "The word God has become empty of meaning through thousands of years of misuse. I use it sometimes, but I do so sparingly.
"By misuse, I mean that people who have never even glimpsed the realm of the sacred, the infinite vastness behind that word, use it with great conviction, as if they knew what they are talking about. Or they argue against it, as if they knew what it is that they are denying.
"This misuse gives rise to absurd beliefs, assertions, and egoic delusions, such as "My or our God is the only true God, and your God is false," or Nietzsche's famous statement "God is dead."
"The word God has become a closed concept. The moment the word is uttered, a mental image is created, no longer, perhaps, of an old man with a white beard, but still a mental representation of someone or something outside you, and, yes, almost inevitably a male someone or something.
"Neither 'God' nor 'Being' nor any other word can define or explain the ineffable reality behind the word, so the only important question is whether the word is a help or a hindrance in enabling you to experience That toward which it points. Does it point beyond itself to that transcendental reality, or does it lend itself too easily to becoming no more than an idea in your head that you believe in, a mental idol?"

Saturn story --
That night in a dream, the King saw a luminous female form - obviously a goddess - leaving his body. "Who are you?" he asked in some alarm. "I am Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and prosperity," the figure replied. "I cannot remain in the same place where Sani remains." The King saluted her respectfully but allowed her to depart.
Next emerged a male deity, Glory (Vaibhava) who, as he departed, said he cannot remain with anyone who has no prosperity. The King allowed him to go as well. Then departed, in order: Righteousness (Dharma), Staunchness (Dhairya), Compassion (Daya), Forbearance (Kshama), and a host of other virtues. When Truthfulness (Satya) prepared to leave, the King grabbed his feet and would not let him go, saying "I've never left you all these years, and you cannot leave me now."
All the other good qualities had been waiting outside the door for Truth to emerge, so that they might all seek shelter elsewhere. When he did not appear after quite a long time, Righteousness finally said "I have to go back; I can't exist without Truth." and so he returned. He was followed by all the others, in reverse order of their departure, and lastly, even Lakshmi returned. She told the King "It is thanks to your love of truth that you have all of us back, we could not resist. A fellow like you, who holds onto Truth, will never be miserable."
Adapated from The Greatness of Saturn, A Therapeutic Myth by Robert E. Svoboda.
Sani is best known for bringing suffering and affliction. The meaning of the story is that if we spend a life clinging to truth, even Sani cannot drive out our good fortune for long. It needs to be said that Sani, when well placed in a horoscope, also brings good qualities, like making one a hard worker.

Tumeric research --
LONDON, UK, October 28, 2009: An extract found in the bright yellow curry spice turmeric can kill off cancer cells, scientists have shown. The chemical — curcumin — has long been thought to have healing powers and is already being tested as a treatment for arthritis and even dementia. Now tests by a team at the Cork Cancer Research Centre show it can destroy gullet cancer cells in the lab. Cancer experts said the findings in the British Journal of Cancer could help doctors find new treatments.
Dr Sharon McKenna and her team found that curcumin started to kill cancer cells within 24 hours. The cells also began to digest themselves, after the curcumin triggered lethal cell death signals. Dr McKenna said: Scientists have known for a long time that natural compounds have the potential to treat faulty cells that have become cancerous and we suspected that curcumin might have therapeutic value. Dr Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research UK, said: This is interesting research which opens up the possibility that natural chemicals found in turmeric could be developed into new treatments for oesophageal cancer.
